Art becomes life, and life becomes art. 1976 journeys through the ghettos and farmlands and lifestyles of Cuba as scenes build and unfold blurring the distinction between the ideology of propaganda and the everyday reality of struggling to survive.

The idea for this music video was to capture the flair of the track's distinct sound. Using original photography shot in Cuba, the flowing camera movement was inspired by the addictive melody. We decided not to burden the viewer with too many visuals, but instead rely on the strong compositions in each photograph to create the magnetism.

1976 appeared in numerous film festivals and music video compilations including a stay as a top 5 hip-hop video on MTV.com and was one of the first downloadable music videos on iTunes.
